5 Things I’m Grateful For This Summer | Collaboration With Daisy’s Corner

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the blog. This Friday’s post is in collaboration with my online bestie Daisy, from Daisy’s Corner. Organised girl boss Daisy had this collab planned far in advance, and finally it is time to share it with you! In this post I will be sharing 5 things I’m grateful for this summer. Daisy is doing the same, so after reading this post you must click here to view her half. This is going to be a very happy, wholesome post! I hope you enjoy.

Early Summer Mornings

I don’t get up early every day, although I am making an effort to. I just love the golden glow in the morning! Sitting in the garden with my journal, or a good book, in the early hours is an unbeatable feeling. Plus, with the weather being so hot in the UK at the moment, it’s about the only time I can go outside without roasting to bits.

Frozen Fruit (Blueberries In Particular)

This time last year I had not yet discovered the joy of eating fruits frozen. Berries, such as blueberries and raspberries, are super yummy when frozen. They’re are comparable to sweets, except better in my opinion! All fruit is a blessing, and I could not live without it. Lockdown has made so many of us more grateful for the little things. I try to believe that I was expressing gratitude before lockdown, but never like this.

My Garden

All throughout lockdown I have been especially grateful for my garden. In the beginning stages when only 1 hour of exercise daily was allowed, I felt so grateful to have my outdoor space. We’ve started inviting a few people round for barbecues and it’s been an awesome family space. On top of that, it’s served as our own ‘camping’ park. Since we can’t go on holiday this year, I have been camping in the garden for a breath of fresh air – literally.

That I Can Go For Long Walks

As we are no longer restricted to one hour of exercise per day, I can now get out on long walks. I live semi-rurally, where there are many amazing walks nearby. I am extremely grateful for that opportunity. The countryside, and the beautiful hills, are where I belong. If I could walk up and down a mountain every day, I would. It gives me such a buzz (much more satisfying than post-workout adrenaline!)

Audiobooks

Lockdown forced me to start using a library app, rather than the in-person experience. That led to my discovery of audiobooks! I’ve always wanted to try out this way of reading before, but I thought I needed to spend money. Turns out, the library has them there for me! Without coronavirus I would have never discovered this feature. Although it is a dreadful virus, the consequential lockdown it caused has brought many a realisation. Audiobooks are such a convenient way to get through books while completing other activities. My favourite is colouring and listening, or even when I’m editing photos for Instagram.

I have a childish obsession with rainbows…

We are missing out on so much opportunity this summer. My family didn’t book anything, but planned to go inter railing around Italy. In the past year I have also raised £1800 to go on a Guides camp, which was inevitably cancelled. Despite the drastic change of plans, I’ve still had an awesome summer thus far. Counting my blessings has kept me positive and inspired! I do encourage any of you feeling a tad low to write down 5 things you’re grateful for either in the comment section or on paper. Really reflect on what you have written down. I promise you, it’s the best habit to get into a routine of.

Many thanks to Daisy for offering me the chance to do a 3rd collab together! You have no idea just how much I love chatting with you, and that Zoom call once was the most fun. Daisy just completed her first year of blogging! It’s been a wild ride, and she has grown so much in this short space of time. Please go over and support her blog, YouTube and Instagram. So much hard work goes into maintaining content like this so even the smallest support means a lot.

What are you especially grateful for this summer?

Six Word Story

It is liberating to be alive.

To be alive and healthy is something I take for granted, and that’s completely normal. But today, in the beautiful sunshine, I was smiling to myself. I was so happy to be under the sun, living with my family! It’s those little moments when you realise ‘I’m so lucky to be alive’ that make your day. Hope you get this feeling, too. Take care of yourselves, lovelies! Sorry for the abundance of six word stories, I’ve just been super inspired lately.

My Top 10 Favourite Feelings | Expressing Gratitude & Another Huge Announcement!

I want to thank Xandria for coming up with such an original idea for a tag, and to Pooja from lifesfinewhine for nominating me. Pooja is the absolute queen of blogging and I’m honoured to participate in this! I know you nominated me a month or two ago but in came school work to ruin the plans of being productive with this blog. So let’s get on to the tag, despite its delay in being written.

The Rules

List out 10 of your favourite feelings! It’s honestly just that simple!

Heavy rain as I go to sleep

Rain at any time of day has a satisfying sound, but particularly at night with the window slightly ajar. Water in any form brings me a sense of belonging – a cosy, homely feeling – especially the ocean! My dream is to have a house on a seafront, ideally in Scotland.

The satisfaction of writing a lengthy journal entry, and getting everything off my chest

Since chatting with some girls about LOA on a group chat, I have become fully invested in journaling. Lots of people recommend it as the activity to do as you first wake up, but it doesn’t matter the time of day for me. It could be 11pm and I would still feel the same satisfaction! Journaling honestly DOES change your life. And I know you hear people talk about it a lot as the ‘best thing that has ever happened to them’ but they’re not lying. I was in your position once, thinking that I don’t need to journal or not having enough time to journal. Now I do and it’s the best daily habit to implement.

Completing my to-do list!

I rarely complete an entire to-do list, so when I do it feels so satisfying!

Sitting down on the sofa after a long and tiring walk

Nothing beats this. Sometimes I go for a fast-paced walk, get a *bit* sweaty, and because of how fast I’m walking, I can’t really feel any sensation in my body. But when I return home and I finally stand completely still, I am overcome all exhaustion and usually just flop on to the sofa with a cup of tea.

Seeing someones face light up when they see me, and vice versa

It’s the specific moment when someone turns from a concentrated frown, to then lift their eyes up and smile at you! It never fails to give me a warm feeling. A smile is like carrying your own sunshine. It does genuinely brighten up people’s day!

A breeze on a hot day

Anywhere in the world this feels good, but by the seaside especially. You could be a hot, sweaty mess then this gentle breeze passes through the trees and you suddenly feel grounded and less bothered by the heat.

Finishing a hardback book

Book lovers can relate! Whenever I finish a hardback, I snap it together so it makes a loud clap. I’m currently reading a hardback, and that’s one of the motivators to get me through it.

The cat coming to sit on my bed during the night

If you don’t follow my Instagram (you should), you won’t know who Pikachu is. Our family’s gorgeous cat tends to sleep on our beds at night, usually taking her pick between my brother and I. It’s a silent sibling competition, that we never voice aloud. But when Pikachu comes on to my bed at night it’s an unspoken win over my brother hehe.

Going outside in the early hours of a frosty morning, and inhaling the cool, fresh air

It’s 6am on Monday 22nd November. You have just woken up to a dark sky, and you hear the cat meowing downstairs. You let her out of the front door, to be confronted by a wall of cool air. You take a big breath in, but the cold makes your nose numb and senseless. On the exhale, you can see your warm breath against the air, forming a cloud. It’s an unbeatable sensation, one that you can’t wait until winter to experience again.

Opening a can of beans with a ring pull

I don’t use a snazzy plastic device like this GIF does. But the visual is there.

I Nominate:

Ebullience

Meg @ Baking By Meg

HUGE Announcement For All Book Lovers!

If you’d read this far, you may me interested in my new account on Instagram! This time last year I had a bookstagram. It gradually morphed into a lifestyle account, which now has over 1.4K followers (thank you all so much!). Posting book content on there seemed a bit inappropriate, considering the audience are more interesting in the positivity and lifestyle niches. SO I went the extra mile to start up a new bookstagram, @kittyjadebooks, to satisfy all of my bookish needs! I post daily photos of books, regularly update you on my story and am always chatting about books with all of you. If that’s something you’re interested in, click here. Thank you so much for the support already! I’m very excited for the future of that account.

Time For A Rhyme

If it weren’t for a breeze,

And the shaking of your knees,

You wouldn’t see the stillness of the trees.

Autumnal vibes in this photo!

Found this one in my drafts and I thought it was worth sharing. Because even though will get shaken up, made anxious and have rough patches, they only make us appreciate the little things more. I’m in a group chat with a few girls who are all very interested LOA (Law Of Attraction), and our chats together have inspired me to start journaling. Along with rambling, I write 3 things a day that I’m grateful for. I would recommend to absolutely everyone, no matter what situation you’re in!

What are you grateful for?
